Lawn Fawn Gingerbread Border – Tone-on-Tone Christmas Card with Gingerbread Friends

Lawn Fawn Christmas card with a neutral tone-on-tone Gingerbread Border background and a large gingerbread girl

It’s another day of Lawn Fawn’s Winter 2026 Inspiration and Release Week, and today we’re introducing Gingerbread House, Gingerbread House Add-On, Gingerbread Border and Scripty Sweet Outline Add-On!

For my first card, I used those adorable little gingerbread people from Gingerbread Border to create a subtle tone-on-tone background. Paired with a larger Gingerbread Friends girl as the focal point, the neutral layers let all of those sweet stitched details stand out without making the background too busy.

Make sure to also check out my other two projects for today – another take on Gingerbread Border and a project featuring Gingerbread House and Scripty Sweet Outline Add-On.

The new Winter 2026 products will be available on October 1.

About This Project

For my first project featuring the new Gingerbread Border, I kept the design fairly simple and used the border to create a playful tone-on-tone background for my card.

I die-cut the Gingerbread Border several times from Speckled Eggshell Cardstock and arranged the little gingerbread people in rows across the background. The border includes both the detailed gingerbread die, which adds the stitched outline and cuts the tiny details for the eyes, buttons and mouth, and a coordinating solid layer that can be placed behind it. I cut these solid backing pieces from Kraft Cardstock, allowing the Kraft colour to show through all of the little die-cut details. I love how the stitching and tiny faces add plenty of interest while the neutral colours keep the background subtle enough for the larger gingerbread girl to remain the focal point.

For her, I used Gingerbread Friends, combining Kraft and Ground Coffee Cardstock with little pink details. I cut the icing pieces from white shimmer cardstock from the Neutrals Pack, which adds just a subtle bit of sparkle against the warm gingerbread colours.

I finished the card with the Have a sweet Christmas sentiment from the new Gingerbread House stamp set, white heat embossed onto Ground Coffee Cardstock and cut with Everyday Sentiment Banners.

I also have another card featuring the new Gingerbread Border, but in a completely different style – I love how versatile this little row of gingerbread people can be!
