Lawn Fawn Build-A-Dog – Two Pups Building an Igloo on a Fun Fold Card

Lawn Fawn Build-A-Dog fun fold card closed, showing one puppy building a partially finished igloo

It’s another day of Lawn Fawn’s Winter 2026 Inspiration and Release Week, and today we’re introducing the adorable new Build-A-Dog and Henry’s Build-A-Sentiment: Dog!

For my card, I paired the new Build-A-Dog with Build-An-Igloo to create a fun little winter scene with a puppy building their own igloo. And because one dog clearly wasn’t enough for the job, I turned the whole scene into a fun-fold card – when the card is closed, you only see one little builder, but open it up and his friend appears with a wheelbarrow full of ice blocks!

I also combined the new Henry’s Build-A-Sentiment: Dog with two other sets from the series to create a greeting that expands along with the scene.

The new Winter 2026 products will be available on October 1.

About This Project

For this card, I combined the new Build-A-Dog with Build-An-Igloo to create a little winter construction scene – with the dogs busy building their very own igloo!

I altered the Build-An-Igloo by trimming away some of the blocks so that it looks like it is still under construction. The individual ice blocks scattered around the scene are actually the tree trunk from Outside In Stitched Christmas Tree Stackables. It was just the right shape for little blocks of ice! I added some very light grey Copic shading and Ranger Stardust Stickles to give them a frosty sparkle.

I dressed the dogs in warm winter accessories from Build-A-Critter Winter Accessories and die-cut all of the pieces from different Lawn Fawn cardstocks, adding a little extra shading with Lawn Fawn inks. I also added tiny white gel pen dots to the turquoise scarf and the blue section of the other dog’s hat. For the dog on the left, I flipped one of the legs so that he appears to be standing slightly sideways rather than facing straight ahead.

The snowy ground was created with Stitched Simple Wavy Borders. Since my scene is much wider than the die, I simply continued the border across the card in sections. The winter-sky patterned paper in the background comes from the Candy Cane Lane Collection Pack.

The real surprise, though, is the fun-fold design. When the card is closed, it measures a standard A2 size and you only see part of the scene: one dog working on the unfinished igloo and the beginning of the greeting. When you open the card, the scene extends to reveal a second dog and the wheelbarrow full of ice blocks.

I created the greeting in the same way, combining Henry’s Build-A-Sentiment: Birthday, the new Henry’s Build-A-Sentiment: Dog and Henry’s Build-A-Sentiment: Winter. Because the sets are designed to mix and match, I could build a longer sentiment that unfolds together with the scene. I white heat embossed it onto Tomato Cardstock and deliberately positioned the fold slightly off-centre, so part of the greeting extends beyond the edge when the card is closed and more is revealed as it opens.

I didn’t use fixed measurements for the folds. Instead, I worked around the placement of the igloo, dogs and sentiment, testing the folds until the second part of the scene was completely hidden when the card was closed. This makes it easy to adapt the same fun-fold idea to a completely different scene.

I also added a white writing panel to the back, following the same folding structure, so there is still plenty of room for a personal message without interfering with the interactive front.
