Interactive Halloween card featuring the Lawn Fawn Big Hugs Ghost holding a swinging BOO banner.

We’re continuing with the Lawn Fawn Fall Inspiration & Release Week, and the third and final project for today features the new Big Hugs Pop-Up die paired with the adorable Big Hugs Ghost Add-On. As the card opens, the little ghost pops up holding a dangling BOO banner that gently swings with the movement, adding even more playful interaction to the design.

About This Project

I wanted the interactive Big Hugs Ghost to be the star of this card, so I kept the overall design clean and playful. As the card opens, the little ghost pops up holding a dangling BOO banner that gently swings with the movement, bringing the Halloween scene to life.

For the card front, I created a soft pink background with delicate white webs using the Spiderweb Background Stencils. I die cut the little ghosts from Sparkle Cardstock – Pixie Dust and the tiny spiders from black Sparkle Cardstock for a fun Halloween look. The sentiment combines die-cut letters from Louie’s ABCs with stamped words from Henry Jr.’s ABCs, while the letters themselves were cut from the beautiful new Stripes ’n Sprinkles Autumn Petite Paper Pack, adding a subtle patterned contrast to the design.

Inside the card, I created a softly ink-blended night sky and added shimmering clouds using the Stratus Cloud Background Stencil together with Pearl Stencil Paste. For the black splatters, I experimented with mixing Black Licorice InkLiquid Stardust and a little water. It worked beautifully and created sparkly black splatters instead of the usual plain ink—a technique I’ll definitely be using again.

The dangling BOO banner was surprisingly easy to make. I folded small strips of copy paper around a length of black sewing thread and glued them closed before attaching a die-cut letter to each side. After trimming away the excess paper, I punched tiny 1/16” holes into the ghost’s arms, threaded the banner through, and finally sandwiched the thread between the ghost’s arms and the Big Hugs Pop-Up mechanism. This keeps the thread securely hidden while allowing the banner to swing freely as the card opens.
