Today is Day 3 of the July Inspiration Week on the Lawn Fawn blog, and today’s theme is Interactive. My project combines two fantastic interactive Lawn Fawn dies in a fun new way! I paired the Platform Pop-Up with the Mini Pop-Up Box to create a playful underwater scene where a cute little shark pops up from behind the waves.
The Mini Pop-Up Box is normally designed for the inside of a card, but after seeing this clever idea demonstrated by Chari from the Lawn Fawn Design Team, I just had to give it a try on a Platform Pop-Up card. It creates such a fun surprise when the card is opened! You can watch Chari's excellent tutorial here.
To finish the scene, I used the adorable Tiny Gift Box Whale and Dolphin Add-On and turned the whale into a friendly little shark with just a few simple modifications.

About This Project
This interactive card combines the Platform Pop-Up and Mini Pop-Up Box to create a fun three-dimensional underwater scene with a delightful surprise when the card is opened. The underwater scene is filled with colourful seaweed, coral and little fish, all created using elements from several Lawn Fawn sets listed in the supply list below, while the shark pops up saying “DUH-NUH!”—a playful nod to the classic shark theme.
One of my favourite things about this project is how well the Tiny Gift Box Add-Ons work with the Mini Pop-Up Box. These add-ons were originally designed to decorate Lawn Fawn’s Tiny Gift Box, but because the Mini Pop-Up Box has very similar dimensions, they fit beautifully here as well. That means you’re not limited to the whale and dolphin—you can also use other Tiny Gift Box Add-Ons to create all kinds of fun pop-up characters.
For the shark, I adapted the Tiny Gift Box Whale from the Tiny Gift Box Whale and Dolphin Add-On using a simple stencil to transform the face into a shark. I then added a few tiny teeth with a white gel pen to complete the friendly shark look.

Tips & Tricks
Turning the Whale into a Shark
To create the shark, I made a simple paper stencil to reshape the whale’s face. As shown in the image, folding the paper before cutting ensures perfectly symmetrical results. I then ink blended over the stencil and finished the look by adding a few tiny teeth with a white gel pen.
